We may be unable to replace gold and copper reserves as they become depleted. Estimates of proven and probable reserves are uncertain and the volume and grade of ore actually recovered may vary from our estimates. Increased operating costs could affect our profitability. Estimates relating to new development projects are uncertain and we may incur higher costs and lower economic returns than estimated. Our Batu Hijau operation in Indonesia is subject to political and economic risks. Our Company and the mining industry are facing continued geotechnical challenges, which could adversely impact our production and profitability. Our operations in Peru are subject to political risks. Our success depends on our social and environmental performance. Remediation costs for environmental liabilities may exceed the provisions we have made. Currency fluctuations may affect our costs. Our business requires substantial capital investment and we may be unable to raise additional funding on favorable terms. Any downgrade in the credit ratings assigned to our debt securities could increase our future borrowing costs and adversely affect the availability of new financing. To the extent that we seek to expand our operations and increase our reserves through acquisitions, we may experience issues in executing acquisitions or integrating acquired operations.
