Recent negative developments in the financial services industry and U.S. and global credit markets may adversely impact our operations and results. A decrease in our ability to borrow funds could adversely affect our liquidity. We are subject to interest rate risk and variations in interest rates may negatively affect our financial performance. The Company may incur impairments to goodwill. The extensive regulation and supervision to which we are subject impose substantial restrictions on our business. Because of our participation in the Treasury s Capital Purchase Program, we are subject to several restrictions including restrictions on our ability to declare or pay dividends and repurchase our shares as well as restrictions on our executive compensation. Our issuance of securities to the Treasury imposes certain restrictions on us that may have a negative impact on the price of our common stock. Current levels of volatility in the capital markets are unprecedented and may adversely impact our operations and results. Lakeland s ability to pay dividends is subject to regulatory limitations which, to the extent that our holding company requires such dividends in the future, may affect our holding company s ability to pay its obligations and pay dividends to shareholders. Our allowance for loan and lease losses may not be adequate to cover actual losses. We are subject to various lending and other economic risks that could adversely affect our results of operations and financial condition. We may suffer losses in our loan portfolio despite our underwriting practices. We face strong competition from other financial institutions, financial service companies and other organizations offering services similar to the services that we provide. Declines in value may adversely impact our investment portfolio Concern of customers over deposit insurance may cause a decrease in deposits. Our deposit insurance premium will be substantially higher in 2009, which could have a material adverse effect on our future earnings. If we do not successfully integrate any banks that we may acquire in the future, the combined company may be adversely affected.
